Over the years, India’s contribution to the development of human resources in Nepal has been one of the major aspects of India-Nepal cooperation.

Around 3,000 scholarships are provided every year by Government of India through the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, to Nepali nationals for undergoing various courses at the level of Ph.D/Masters, Bachelors for study in India; and Bachelors and Class-XI for study in Nepal.

India is one of the topmost destinations for Nepalese students who wish to pursue their further studies abroad. Thousands of students each year go India to pursue their Bachelor’s degree in various disciplines and so is the figure for higher degrees. Similar culture, homely environment is what students expect and go in India.

Below are 10 important facts about COMPEX Nepal Scholarship Scheme 2020.

1. Compex Scholarship Scheme 2020  (Last date to subbmision of online application is 09.08.2020 (SUNDAY)

COMPEX is a scholarship scheme by Embassy of India in Nepal that provides admission with 100% scholarships to top Indian Universities in following undergraduate courses:

  • Engineering (BE)
  • Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy)
  • Agriculture (B.Sc-Agri)
  • Food Technology (B.Sc. – FT)
  • Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)

2. How many scholarships are offered under Compex Nepal Scholarship Scheme 2020?

Under this scholarship scheme a total of 220 scholarship seats are offered every year. Below is the tentative scholarship seats course wise:

  • Engineering (BE) – 160 seats
  • Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy)- 15 seats
  • Agriculture (B.Sc-Agri)- 15 seats
  • Food Technology (B.Sc. – FT) – 15 seats
  • Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) – 15 seats

3. When would the application form be released?

The Indian Embassy in Nepal usually releases the application form for COMPEX in the the month of May or June. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year we expect the application form to be released in last week of July 2020.

4. Is there any application fee to apply?

Yes, an application fee of NPR 400/- (Nepali Rupees four hundred only) needs to be paid to Embassy of India to apply for the COMPEX Nepal Scholarship scheme.

5. How to check if I am eligible for COMPEX -2020 Scholarship scheme provided by Indian Embassy, Nepal?

The Indian Embassy in Nepal has set some specific criterions that need to be fulfilled by students to be eligible for COMPEX Nepal Scholarship.

Some of the basic criterias to be eligible for the scholarship are:

  • The applicant should be a Nepali citizen.
  • The minimum age required to apply is 16 years and maximum age to apply is 23 years. Date for determining the age limit is 01.07.2020.
  • Candidates who have already passed class XII or equivalent to 10+2 CBSE standard in India may apply. Candidates appearing in Plus 2/12th standard Examination during the year 2020 may also apply in anticipation of their results. Their selection will, however be, depend on fulfilling the above eligibility criteria.

6. Is there any Exam I need to give?

Embassy of India, Nepal conducts a qualifying Computer Based Test (CBT) / Examination to select candidates for the above courses under COMPEX Nepal Scholarship. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic this year the exam would be a standardized online proctored test i.e. the exam would need to be taken at home.

7. What is a online proctored exam?

Proctored exams are timed exams that you take while proctoring software monitors your computer’s desktop, webcam video and audio.

8. What is the exam pattern for COMPEX Scholarship Scheme 2020?

Based on the course applied during the application form the students have to appear for subject wise tests.

The exam is a Multiple choice question exam i.e. for every question you would be given 4 options out of which you have to select one. There is no negative marking for selecting the wrong option.

9. What is syllabus of COMPEX Scholarship Exam?

Embassy of India has not particularly provided any syllabus. However the syllabus of IOE is enough to crack COMPEX examination. The exam questions are based on CBSE Class 11th & 12th syllabus.

10. What all is covered under the COMPEX scholarship scheme?

The following elements of your fees to Study in India would be covered by Indian Embassy if you get the scholarship

  • Institution/Tuition Fees for the whole duration of the program
  • Hostel Accommodation Charges (excluding mess charges). The mess fees will be settled/paid by the concerned student directly to the institution.
  • Airfare for 2 way tickets
  • Monthly Stipend

11. Which is the best University/College under the COMPEX scholarship scheme?

Based on the results of past few years we can easily notice that only few students get admission in college like IITs, NITs
